Next Stop: Korea & Japan!

This year we've planned a trip to Asia!  We leave at 12:30am on Friday, November 4 for Seoul, South Korea.  From there we will wind our way by bus, ferry, and high speed rail to Tokyo, Japan, to catch a flight back to America on Sunday, November 27.  The map below charts our course:

We've spent more time preparing for this trip than any of our previous vacations.  We bought plane tickets in July, and had been talking about going to Korea and Japan since the spring.  One of the reasons we decided to go to Asia is that Paul has two college friends in the region.  We will be staying with Paul's friend Megan in Seoul and his friend Emiko, from Beppu, Japan, will be joining us for a week of our trip... from Busan to Osaka.

To make things more interesting, David has spent the past 5 months trying to learn Korean.  He has annyeonghaseyo (hello), sochu (booze), and hwajangshil (bathroom) down, but it gets fuzzy after that...  While Paul, when tasked to learn Japanese, one-upped David by enlisting Emiko as a Japanese interpreter.

Next stop, Seoul!

Welcome / Bienvenidos / 환영합니다 / أهلاً وسهلاً

Welcome to the first entry of the Adventures of David and Paul!  We decided to start this blog to allow friends and family to keep track of us on our many trips.  We know everyone has access to social media, like Facebook, but a blog allows for added detail that pictures alone don't provide. This blog will also function as a travel journal, where we can keep track of our thoughts and impressions of places we visit.

We've had the good fortune to travel a lot over the past few years.  If you're interested in seeing any of our pictures from our previous trips to Greece, Spain, Portugal, France or throughout the United States, just look us up on Facebook.

Please feel free to follow the blog and comment on anything you want!  All conversation is welcome, whether you agree with us or not!
