Half day in Luxembourg

At the conclusion of the ACE roller coaster tour in France, our last hotel was in Arlon, Belgium. I had made plans to go with some friends for two days at Europa Park, and we had a full travel day to get there. We decided to spend the free time in Luxembourg, which is immediately east of Arlon. Based on our route, and some train routes closed for major maintenance, this would require a rental car. We planned a somewhat complex series of events where we would leave our luggage at the hotel, take a taxi to central Luxembourg, do touristy things, take the light rail to the airport to pick up the rental car, drive back to Belgium to pick up our bags, then drive to Europa Park in Germany. Luckily it all worked out great!

The taxi was surprisingly expensive (90 euro) for only a 23 minute drive, but we didn't have any other options since the trains were down and Uber was quoting 120 euro. We could have taken a cheaper taxi a shorter distance and done a bus to bus transfer, but that would have taken an hour longer. So we sucked it up and split the taxi price four ways. We got dropped off just southwest of the center, next to Villa Petrusse. From there we did a walking tour of the major sites for several hours, then had lunch.

We had a short but great stay in Luxembourg. It's not very big, but its atmospheric and walkable. I hope to return some day to have more time to check out the museums and nightlife. Alas, we had to get our rental car and drive the 3 hours to Europa Park for our final roller coasters of the trip.
